Terms of Service

Agreement and eligibility

These terms govern your use of Maren, operated by Present Future Labs Inc. ("we," "us"). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use Maren. You must be at least 18 years old to use the service.

The service

Maren is an AI-powered coaching tool for recreational runners. It analyzes data from wearable devices and provides personalized coaching through a conversational interface. The service includes post-workout analysis, readiness assessments, and coaching check-ins.

Important health disclaimer

Maren is not a medical professional, healthcare provider, or licensed trainer. All coaching provided through Maren is generated by artificial intelligence and is for informational and educational purposes only. It is not intended as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

You should always consult your physician or other qualified healthcare provider before starting, modifying, or intensifying any training program. If you experience pain, injury, dizziness, or other unusual symptoms during or after exercise, stop training and seek medical attention promptly.

You voluntarily assume all known and unknown risks associated with athletic activities undertaken in connection with the service, including but not limited to the risk of physical injury. Present Future Labs Inc. is not responsible for any injury, illness, or harm that may result from training decisions you make, whether or not those decisions were informed by Maren's coaching.

Your account

You may create one account per person. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under it. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Subscriptions and payment

Maren offers paid subscription plans. Current plans and pricing are displayed in the app. Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date.

If you start a free trial, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription at the end of the trial period unless you cancel during the trial.

Payments are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. To manage or cancel your subscription, use the subscription settings in your app store account.

Refunds are subject to the policies of Apple or Google, as applicable. We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with reasonable advance notice.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these terms
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the service
• Scrape, collect, or harvest data from the service by automated means
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity
• Interfere with or disrupt the service or its infrastructure

Intellectual property

The Maren name, brand, design, and service content are owned by Present Future Labs Inc. or its licensors. Your personal data remains yours. Nothing in these terms transfers ownership of your data to us.

User content

Messages you send through Maren are yours. By using the service, you grant us a limited license to process your messages as necessary to provide coaching and operate the service. This license ends when you delete your account.

Third-party integrations

Maren integrates with third-party services such as Garmin Connect and Apple HealthKit. These integrations are optional and subject to those providers' own terms and conditions. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or performance of third-party services.

Limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any coaching advice or analysis.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Present Future Labs Inc. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of the service, regardless of the theory of liability.

Our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising from or related to the service shall not exceed the total amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Present Future Labs Inc. and its officers, directors, and employees from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your misuse of the service or your violation of these terms.

Changes to the service

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time. Where reasonably practicable, we will provide advance notice of material changes.

Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the service if you violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time through your account settings. Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law) will continue to apply.

Privacy

Your use of Maren is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your data.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from or relating to these terms or the service shall be resolved in the courts of British Columbia, Canada.

General

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect. These terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Present Future Labs Inc. regarding the service. Our failure to enforce any provision does not constitute a waiver of that provision.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We encourage you to review them periodically. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you. Your continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
